One of the men killed while fighting in the middle of Two Notch Road over the weekend has been identified as a member of the U.S. Air Force stationed at Shaw Air Force Base.

Tech. Sgt. Otis H. Starks, 33, of the 20th Force Support Squadron died along with another man around 3:40 a.m. Saturday after both were run over by an oncoming car, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Monday.

"The death of Tech. Sgt. Starks over the weekend is a tragic loss to the 20th Force Support Squadron, 20th Fighter Wing and the Air Force," said Col. Lance Kildron, 20th Fighter Wing vice commander. “Our priority is to support his wife, children, family, friends and co-workers through this difficult time."

Watts identified the other man as Corey Trapp, 35, of Blythewood.

Starks and Trapp died on the scene. They were fighting and apparently rolled into the middle of the roadway, in the 7300 block of Two Notch Road near Decker Boulevard, and into the path of a car which struck them, Watts said.

The car that struck the two was a 2008 Honda Accord heading south on Two Notch Road and driven by 39-year-old Stacey Carter of Camden, Cpl. Bob Beres of the S.C. Highway Patrol said.

The two men apparently had started arguing earlier at a bar and been asked to leave, Watts said. The two left the bar in separate cars, pulled into the median on Two Notch and continued the scuffle.

Starks is survived by his wife and two children.

The S.C. Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
