NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — A former North Charleston police officer accused of shooting himself and then lying about the incident has been arrested.
Charles Edward Bulliard Jr., 46, is charged with misconduct in office and giving false information to police. State Law Enforcement Division agents have accused Bulliard of shooting himself in an apparent suicide attempt July 4 and then blaming the incidents on two unknown suspects. The incident led to a search across the Charleston area for the men, SLED agents said.
After the incident, SLED agents said Bulliard admitted to lying about the incident. Bulliard is being held at Charleston County Detention Center.
