Sunday: State Fair honored military

November 11, 2012

— The S.C. State Fair deserves a warm and heartfelt salute for admitting military personnel, active and retired, as well as their dependents, free of charge. We frequently see the bumper stickers that read “Freedom Is Not Free,” and more truthful words have never been penned.

The brave men and women of our military services, present and past, enable our citizens to enjoy a free America, and activities such as those offered at our State Fair. The dependents of our military personnel also have made many sacrifices in support of their loved ones who go to war.

The management of the fair association recognized the contributions of our military, and their dependents, and demonstrated its appreciation in a tangible way by waiving the gate admission charges. Congratulations on your patriotism.
