FORT JACKSON, SC — People living and travelling near Fort Jackson might hear loud noises from the base Saturday while the South Carolina Army National Guard practice using heavy artillery there.

Guardsmen will be firing M109 155mm Howitzer cannons all day Saturday and into the night at the base’s Camp McCrady. The sound of the cannon fire will be louder than most normal operations, base officials say.
