Ft. Jackson exercise could be noisy for neighbors

November 14, 2012

Those living around Fort Jackson should expect to hear more noise Saturday, as the S.C. Army National Guard practices with its M-109, 155mm Howitzers at Camp McCrady.

Camp McCrady will host the 1st Battalion, 178th Field Artillery. The exercise is expected to last into the evening.

The Guard tries to minimize noise, but shifts in wind direction and cloud cover can reflect sounds back to the ground.
