The Free Medical Clinic will host The Doctors Lounge at 7 p.m. at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Several local doctors will play music, from bluegrass to jazz. This is the largest fundraiser for the clinic, which serves patients with a household income at or below 133 percent of the federal poverty level who have no Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance. Festival
of Trees
The Palmetto Health Foundation’s 23rd Festival of Trees will be held through Sunday at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Decorated trees, wreaths and other holiday items will auctioned and proceeds will benefit Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. The festival will begin with a black-tie silent auction preview at 6 p.m. Auction preview tickets cost $75 per person or $125 per couple.
A new addition to the festival this year: the Jingle Bell Jam, featuring Patrick Davis, at 7 p.m. Saturday at the convention center. Tickets cost $25 per person or $40 per couple.
Admission to see the Festival of Trees is free. The trees will be on view from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. The silent auction and event will close at 4 p.m. Sunday. Santa Claus will be visiting the festival. For tickets and a schedule, visit www.palmettohealth foundation.org/
SATURDAY
The Cup
Gates open at 9 a.m. for the Colonial Cup, the fall companion to spring’s Carolina Cup, at the Springdale Race Course in Camden. The steeplechase racing begins at 12:30 p.m. Before the horses gallop onto the track, hang out in the infield where there will be Jack Russell terrier races, mule wagon rides, pony rides and more. Guests can also shop at the Paddock Shoppes retail village. The course is at 200 Knights Hill Road, Camden. $30 for admission, and parking is $10-$265;
