Columbia senior center announces renaming to honor late senator

Published: November 15, 2012

— The Capital Senior Center will be renamed in April for the late Isadore Lourie.

The name change, announced Thursday, is timed for the 10th anniversary of Lourie’s death.

Lourie was a state senator known as an advocate for the elderly, the agency said in a news release.

The center’s mission is keeping mature adults physically fit, socially engaged, intellectually stimulated and independent. It was established in 1995.
