Citadel (6-4, 4-3 SoCon) at Furman (3-7, 2-5)
When: 1:30 p.m.
Citadel: DL Derek Douglas had two sacks, forced one fumble and returned a fumble for a critical touchdown in last week’s 27-24 non-conference win against VMI. Douglas was named the SoCon defensive player of the week.
Furman: RB Jerodis Williams enters his final collegiate game with 2,994 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on the books. He had one scoring run and a kickoff return tally in a good showing last week in a loss to Appalachian State.
Outlook: The Bulldogs are out to equal the best record in the Kevin Huggins era — matching the 7-4 mark posted in the coach’s third season on the job (2007). The Paladins are looking to avoid their worst finishing grade in 18 years.
Charleston Southern (5-5, 3-2 Big South) at Coastal Carolina (6-4, 4-1)
When: 3:30 p.m.
Coastal Carolina: QB Aramis Hillary was named Big South offensive player of the week for his performance in a 65-7 win against Presbyterian. Hillary connected on 19 of 22 passes for 261 yards and tied the conference single-game record with five touchdown passes. He also ran for 81 yards.
Charleston Southern: Teddy Allen ran for 107 yards and one touchdown in the Buccaneers’ come-from-behind 28-10 win against Gardner-Webb last week.
Outlook: CSU, winners of four of its past five games, is shooting for a winning season. Coastal, on the other hand, can claim a share of the Big South championship with a win.
Presbyterian (2-8, 0-5 Big South) at Gardner-Webb (2-8, 1-4)
When: 1:30 p.m.
Presbyterian: RB Lance Byrd enters his final game at PC with 2,590 career rushing yards.
Gardner-Webb: LB Tanner Burch leads the Big South and is third nationally in tackles per game (12.6).
Outlook: Two bad teams end the season with little left to play for except pride. The Blue Hose advantage is playing at home.
Savannah State (1-9, 0-7 MEAC) at S.C. State (4-6, 3-4)
When: 1:30 p.m.
S.C. State: Tyler McDonald enters the final game of his junior season with 106 career receptions and 1,391 receiving yards. He has a shot at breaking the school record in both categories next year.
Savannah State: WR Simon Howard is the Tigers’ most dangerous offensive weapon with 34 catches for 695 yards and six touchdowns.
Outlook: S.C. State has lost two of 14 meetings with Savannah State. A lost season would become a real embarrassment if the Bulldogs can’t finish 2012 on a positive note.
