Richland County wants your junk

November 21, 2012

The Richland County Solid Waste Department is helping citizens chunk unwanted junk by hosting a special electronic recycling and document shredding event.

The event is open to all Richland County residents. The following items will be accepted: tires, computers, televisions, household electronics, microwave ovens, scrap metal and paper documents for shredding.

The event is being held on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Zion Mill Creek Baptist Church. The church is located at 97 Mill Creek Parkway Blvd.

Residents also will be able to “Make the Switch” – exchange regular household bulbs for energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs. The limit is eight per person.

The county will not be collecting commercial materials, refrigerators or air conditioners. For more information, call (803) 576-2446.
