Private schools Shrine Bowl

set for kickoff

The eighth Oasis Shrine Bowl private school football game is today at 1 p.m. at Joe Popp Stadium at Mooresville High.

The game matches the top senior private school football players in North Carolina against their South Carolina counterparts.

Players from both teams arrived in Mooresville on Monday for a week of practice.

The teams also toured the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Greenville.

Proceeds from the game will go to benefit the Shriners Hospitals.

Admission is $10. Last year’s game, where South Carolina beat North Carolina 25-24, raised about $1 million.
