Hit-and-run kills Lexington pedestrian

Published: November 25, 2012

A 48-year-old Lexington County man was struck in a hit-and-run incident and killed over the weekend.

Aaron Tyrone McGlon, of Lexington, was crossing the 4300 block of U.S. 1 on foot at Oak Drive Saturday around 6 p.m. – just after sunset – when he was struck by a light-colored sedan, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s office.

McGlon suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene, coroner Harry Harman said in a press release.

The car that struck McGlon was possibly an early- to mid-1990s Cadillac headed north on U.S. 1, which is locally known as the Augusta Road, said patrol Lance Corporal Brent Kelly.

“It fled the scene and continued traveling toward West Columbia,” Kelly said.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
