Richland County, SC — Cindi Scoppe’s Nov. 14 column about the Richland County election fiasco makes me wonder how we send “smart” people to the Legislature where they become instantly stupid (“This debacle brought to you by single-county laws). How they could have put that woman in charge of Richland County’s election and voter registration agency is beyond comprehension. The Peter Principle is at work.

What are we the people of this county to do about all this? The time wasted. Money, which is tight for most of us, wasted. Those people who did not get to vote, the disenfranchised.

This isn’t even ignorance, which can be corrected; it’s just plain stupid. If these legislators claim to represent us, they are delusional. Is there no way we can hold them accountable and prevent this kind of idiocy from continuing? If we have to wait until we can vote them out, they may put us in worse situations than we are already in now.
