THE RIDGE VIEW BLAZERS have made the 2012 All-State Choir. The students include Lilia Faris, Soprano 1; Lanaysia Wilds, Soprano 2; Chryslynn Magliane, Alto; Haroon Muhammad, Tenor 2; Benjamin Stogner, Bass 1; and Exree Hipp, Bass 2.
FULMER MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS have been named winners in the 10th annual SwampFest Student Art competition including Lily Leaphart, first place for seventh grade; Tyler Corbitt, honorable mention for seventh grade; and Hailey Voytko, honorable mention for eighth grade.
LEXINGTON TWO COMPETITIVE CHEER TEAMS have qualified for State competition at the AAA Lower State competition. Airport High School Cheer Team won first place, and Brookland-Cayce High School won second place.
HEATHWOOD HALL EPISCOPAL INTERMEDIATE AND MIDDLE SCHOOL students have raised $11,000 in the 9th annual Turkey Trot.
AIRPORT HIGH SCHOOL’S JROTC DRILL TEAM has achieved First Place Overall during the 7th annual Citadel Drill Meet.
COMMUNITY
DIANE BOULWARE has been named Lexington School District Two’s Teacher of the Year.
ERIN R. GILREATH , a Spanish instructor at Dutch Fork High School, has been named the 2012 South Carolina Spanish Teacher of the Year by Sigma Delta Pi. The organization is the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society at the College of Charleston and The Citadel.
NICHOLAS BURT has been promoted to the rank of master deputy by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Burt will serve as the assistant supervisor of a road patrol shift in the South Region Patrol District.

EMMA YOUNG, a senior at Brookland-Cayce High School, has been named Lexington School District Two’s Student of the Year.
MILITARY
MARINE CORPS PVT. MICHAEL R. TAMAYO has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. He is the son of Connie A. Pressler of Camden.
MARINE CORPS PVT. RHETT P. GERTH has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. He is the son of Barbara A. and David N. Gerth of Lexington.
MARINE CORPS PFC. TEVIN T. SMITH has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. He is the son of Carolyn J. and Bobby L. Smith of Hopkins.
NAVY SEAMAN JUSTIN K. MIXON has graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of James A. Mixon of Blythewood.
AIR FORCE AIRMAN 1ST CLASS TRAVIS S. JOYNER has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Laneta Joyner of Blythewood.
CIVILIAN RYAN C. FINK has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. He is the son of Charlene D. and Steven C. Fink of Columbia.
