RICHLAND COUNTY, SC Three people pistol-whipped a man before stealing his car Sunday night, sending the victim to the hospital.
The Richland County Sheriffs Department is looking for two men and a woman who were involved in the carjacking, armed robbery and assault, said Deputy Curtis Wilson , a sheriffs department spokesman. Investigators are searching for the stolen vehicle, a 2006 Chrysler 300 with the license tag HRX-721.
The victim was parked around 8:45 p.m. on Saluda River Road near the Stoneridge Drive intersection where he was waiting to pick up a friend. His car was rear-ended by a black Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoes female driver got out of the truck to speak to the Chryslers driver, Wilson said.
As the drivers were talking, two men climbed out of the Tahoe and got into an argument with the Chryslers driver. The suspects pulled out a pistol and struck the victim in the head, knocking him out, Wilson said. They took the victims wallet and car keys.
The victim was taken to Palmetto Health Richland. His condition is not known.
