Eight people killed on SC highways over Thanksgiving holiday

Published: November 26, 2012

— Eight people were killed over the Thanksgiving holiday while traveling on the state’s roads, the S.C. Highway Patrol reported.

Last year, 11 people were killed on the S.C. roads.

Of the eight killed over the weekend, two were not wearing seatbelts and two were wearing seatbelts, the Highway Patrol reported. Traffic investigators were unable to determine if a fifth victim was wearing a seatbelt.

And, two pedestrians and a bicyclist were killed.

Through midnight Sunday, 744 people have died on S.C. roads, compared to 766 who were killed during the same period in 2011.
