Man shoots, kills himself at 5 Points tattoo parlor

Published: November 27, 2012

A man was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound during Tuesday’s lunch hour at a Five Points tattoo parlor.

Columbia police investigators do not suspect foul play, according to police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons, but the final determination on the cause of the shooting now rests with Richland County coroner Gary Watts.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of family.

Timmons said it was unclear whether the victim was an employee of the Greene Street tattoo shop or a customer.
