Mary Anne Fitzpatrick, dean of the University of South Carolina’s College of Arts and Sciences, has been honored with the National Communication Association’s Mark L. Knapp Award. The award is the most prestigious, worldwide award given to someone in the field of interpersonal communication. Fitzpatrick, a published author, joined the University of South Carolina in 2005. In addition to serving as chief academic and operating officer of the College of Arts and Sciences, she serves as vice provost for special academic initiatives for the university.
