Ft. Jackson to conduct mass casualty exercise

Published: November 29, 2012

Fort Jackson will conduct a mass casualty exercise Tuesday, causing an increase in the activity of emergency vehicles around the fort, according to a release.

Military and civilian security and emergency response officials will participate in the simulated event. Simulated casualties will be transported by emergency vehicles to several area hospitals as part of the exercise.

The post’s Crisis Management Team will manage the exercise, the release said.

The exercise will include mass casualty operations, emergency operation center activation and reporting procedures, emergency responder procedures and family assistance.

The exercise will assess the post’s and the community’s response to multiple hazardous situations and evaluate management plans and procedures for handling, the news release said.
