COLUMBIA, SC — Deputies with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department have recovered a vehicle believed to have been used in a bank robbery in southeast Columbia Friday.
Deputies also continue to look for two suspects involved in that robbery at the TD Bank in the 7300 block of Garners Ferry Road near the I-77 exchange.
The suspects robbed the bank just after 1 p.m. and made off with an undisclosed amount of money, sheriff’s department spokesman Curtis Wilson said. Though the suspects were armed, no one in the bank was injured, Wilson said.
Some of the stolen money was recovered in the vehicle, found nearby, and some was found as deputies searched for the robbers, he said.
Deputies also believe the vehicle was stolen from an unidentified victim involved in a carjacking just before midnight Thursday, Wilson said. That person was not injured, he said.
Meadowfield Elementary School, off Garners Ferry Road near Woodland Park, was placed on lockdown for a short time during events, said Karen York, a Richland 1 spokeswoman. That lockdown was later lifted.
