Richland Sheriff’s Department brings home awards from fitness competition

The Richland County Sheriff’s Departments brought home top awards this month from the S.C. Law Enforcement Association’s “Battle at the Beach” fitness competition.

The individual awards went to:

Master Deputy Warren Cavanaugh – Top Male Overall

Deputy Misty Puckett – Top Female Overall

Deputy Sara Giron –Second place Overall Female

Deputy Yvonne Woods – Top Female, Masters Division

Lt. Anna Cavanaugh – Second place female, Masters Division

Deputy Scott Puckett – Second place male, Masters Division

In the team competition, the sheriff’s department won first place in the overall female competition. Those competitors were Anna Cavanaugh, Giron, Puckett and Woods.

The men’s team won overall second place. Those competitors were Lt. Dave McRoberts, Deputy George Becker, Deputy Ben Lasher and Deputy Josh Duerkop.

Sheriff Leon Lott credits the departmetn’s CrossFit program for the department’s success at the competition.
