Riverfront trail will be blocked by construction

Published: December 4, 2012

Walkers using the Riverfront Park trail in Columbia will need to access the path at the Laurel Street entrance Monday through Friday next week.

The north end of the trail will be cut off from the rest during that time because of construction work on the Broad River bridge, according to the Columbia Parks and Recreation Department. The barricades will be placed near the 2-mile marker on the trail.

The northern parking areas, off River Road, will be open, allowing access to a popular fishing area. But the trail will be closed just a short distance south from that parking lot because of the construction.
