Wednesday: Unwanted cars can save lives

Published: December 5, 2012

When I drive around, I see lots of cars just sitting in people’s yards that are kind of old and not in use. It’s important to know that unwanted and unused cars can still make a difference. That’s why we donated our old Ford Ranger to the National Kidney Foundation’s Kidney Cars program. We would encourage others to do the same.

Over the last 30 years, Kidney Cars has raised millions to fight kidney disease and its contributing factors, promote organ donation and advocate for patients. Kidney Cars offers a simple, free method of disposing of unwanted cars, motorcycles and boats. At the same time, you’ll earn a tax deduction and help support a truly worthy organization.

The process was simple. We made a phone call, completed a form, sent it in and the organization came out and received the truck. Before the year ends, consider calling (800) 488-CARS or visit www.kidneycars.org. Your old car can help raise awareness of kidney disease and the need for organ donors, as well as support medical education and research to help the 26 million Americans with chronic kidney disease.
