COLUMBIA, SC The city of Columbia Water Works lifted the boil water advisory for several blocks of Forest Drive near Trenholm Plaza and nearby residents.
The system was flushed and biological samples tested for contamination. “The results of this sampling indicate that the system is safe to use for drinking and cooking purposes,” the city said in a news release.

A six-inch water main break near Trenholm Plaza has prompted the city of Columbia to issue a boil-water advisory for a densely populated neighborhood and businesses along that part of Forest Drive.
Residents of the Gregg Park subdivision, south of Trenholm Plaza, and the Magnolia 42 apartment complex as well as businesses from the 4800 through 5300 blocks of Forest Drive are advised to boil any water used for consumption for at least one minute before use. Any residents near the affected area who have lost water pressure today should do the same, the city said in a news release.
The covered area includes Shandon Baptist Church and such businesses as Fresh Market, Original Pancake House and the Golden Corrall.
