COLUMBIA, SC — A Columbia man accused of crashing his car into a Five Points wall and urinating on a police station wall early Thursday morning has been arrested.
21-year-old William Daniel Inbody is charged with driving under the influence and unlawful urination. Columbia Police took Inbody into custody after responding to a call about a car crashing into a brick retaining wall near the Walgreens on Saluda Avenue in Five Points about 2:30 a.m., according to an incident report.
When officers got to the scene, they found a car with heavy front-end damage and Inbody sitting on the ground behind the car with his genitals exposed, according to reports. Inbody told the officer he was operating the vehicle at the time of the crash, but would not take a field sobriety exam because he could not stand for long enough to complete the tests.
Inbody, who according to reports smelled strongly of alcohol, then urinated in the bushes by the wall and was taken to Columbia Police Department headquarters for a breathalyzer test.
The 21-year-old voluntarily took the test and had a .22 blood-alcohol level, according to reports, nearly three times the .08 limit for drivers.
After taking the test, officers told Inbody he could relieve himself, but the man urinated on the wall and floor of the breathalyzer room before he could be taken to a restroom.
He is being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
