RICHLAND NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER PERRY MCLEOD has completed the Teachers for Global Classroom Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

SPARKLEBERRY COUNTRY FAIR CHAIRMAN JOHN MONROE has presented at $15,000 check to Richland 2 Superintendent Katie Brochu to be used for teacher grants. The money was raised during the 2012 Sparkleberry Country Fair.
DEBORAH HOLLAND-SHIELDS has received the Carolina Teachers of English Speakers of Other Languages’ South Carolina Service Award. Holland-Shields works with Richland 2 students at Lake Carolina, Rice Creek and Sandlapper Elementary.
TRI-DISTRICT ARTS CONSORTIUM is accepting nominations for the 2013 Summer Program through Jan. 14. The program will be from 9 a.m.-3:15 p.m. July 1-20. www.tridac.org

ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PFC. JOSHUA B. HUGHES has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. He is the son of Terry Aughtry and stepson of Brian Aughtry of Lexington.
ARMY PVT. JONITA Q. MCCLARY has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo. She is the daughter of Angela Charles of Columbia.
CIVILIAN HARRISON A. CHURCH has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. He is the son of Leslie G. and Anthony W. Church of Chapin.
MARINE CORPS PFC. KAYESONN R. MCCREA has graduated from U.S. Marine recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. He is the son of Monse Green of Columbia.
AIR NATIONAL GUARD AIRMAN 1ST CLASS KENNETH L. PADGETT has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Mary Washington of West Columbia and Kenneth Padgett of Aiken.
ARMY PVT. KEITH R. WAGES has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. He is the son of Melvina Wages and Brian Livingston, both of Columbia.
NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT JOSHUA C. PAYNE has graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Loree P. Roberts of Lexington.
