WHITE KNOLL HIGH VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE STUDENTS Alex Amodio, Christina Bradshaw, Brittany Buckner, Tyler Clark, Kames Davis, Angela Greco, Jaime Luevano, Andrew Roof, Brandon Shull, Serena Stoneberg, Mikayla Urban and Maya Washington won the Best Trade Show Booth and Best Sales Pitch awards at the Southeastern Virtual Enterprise Trade Show.
WHITE KNOLL HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER CRAIG WHEATLEY has been inducted into the Newberry College Hall of Master Teachers.
LEXINGTON TWO SCHOOL BOARD MEMBER ELIZABETH “BETH” BRANHAM has been elected president-elect of the South Carolina School Boards Association.
RICHLAND NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER PERRY MCLEOD has completed the Teachers for Global Classroom Program, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
COMMUNITY
RICHLAND COUNTY LIEUTENANTS MARGITA FRIEDLEY AND FRANCINE GAILLARD, both of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, have received the national designation of Certified Jail Manager through the Jail Manager Certification Commission.
LEXINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT DEPUTY BRANDON MILLER has been promoted to serve as the assistant supervisor of a shift of deputies who are assigned to the Warrant Division.
YOUTH
CODY CRIM, a senior at Gilbert High School, has won the All Around Cowboy award at the South Carolina High School Rodeo.
SPARKLEBERRY COUNTRY FAIR CHAIRMAN JOHN MONROE has presented at $15,000 check to Richland 2 Superintendent Katie Brochu to be used for teacher grants. The money was raised during the 2012 Sparkleberry Country Fair.
DEBORAH HOLLAND-SHIELDS has received the Carolina Teachers of English Speakers of Other Languages’ South Carolina Service Award. Holland-Shields works with Richland 2 students at Lake Carolina, Rice Creek and Sandlapper Elementary.
MILITARY
NAVY SEAMAN APPRENTICE ABHINAU MAMINDLA has graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 2011 graduate of Camden Military Academy, Camden.
AIR NATIONAL GUARD AIRMAN 1ST CLASS AVERY K. SCOTT has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Jennifer Jordon of Elgin.
NAVY SEAMAN BIONICA RILEY has graduated from U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. She is the daughter of Tracey Y. Riley of Newberry.
SAMANTHA A. BATTS has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. She is the daughter of Lisa and Harvey Batts of Blythewood.
