LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — A grenade found at Pelion High School isn’t explosive, authorities said Monday.
“While the training grenade had been altered, the grenade did not contain materials that would enable someone to detonate it,” Lexington County sheriff’s spokesman Maj. John Allard said.
An investigation continues into how it got into a science laboratory at the school 20 miles southwest of Columbia.
Its discovery Friday led to an evacuation of classes while the device was removed.
