RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — DNA evidence lead to an arrest in car break-ins at a home outside Arcadia Lakes last month.
Shaquil Hammonds, 18, and DeAndre Lorrick, 20, are both charged with burglary and breaking into a motor vehicle. The arrests come after forensics workers with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department linked Hammonds to a Nov. 26 incident at a home on Lakecrest Drive where suspects broke into two cars and stole cash and an iPod.
After linking Hammonds to the crime scene, the man was arrested Dec. 11. A tipster later linked Lorrick to the crime, and he was arrested Dec. 12.
The stolen iPod was stolen, deputies said.
Both Lorrick and Hammonds are being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
