Columbia, SC — Given the immense number of large metal plates that are used to pave our streets, I suggest Columbia’s slogan become “Steel City.”
A friend who knows the steel business estimates that these plates cost us 50 cents per pound. They’re only used once, then sold for 5 cents per pound.
On second thought, maybe the slogan should be “Steal City.”
