Friday is the end of the world — according to those who believe Dec. 21, the end of the Mayan calendar, signifying doomsday. In honor of the end of the world, the South Carolina State Museum, which is exhibiting the show “Secrets of the Maya,” is hosting an End of the World Party from 6-10 Thursday. The exhibit, which includes more than 100 artifacts of Mayan civilization, which began prospering in Mexico and Central America 5,000 years ago, also shares how the Mayas created their numerical calendar. 301 Gervais St. $25-$35; www.southcarolinastatemuseum.org
