LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — Lexington County deputies and State Law Enforcement Divisions Tuesday seized 8 video gambling machines at businesses in Lexington County.
One machine was seized from the Kwik Way convenience store in the 4300 block of Augusta Road in Lexington, just a day after the device was delivered to the store.
Deputies found five more in an office next door to The Rock bar on Airport Boulevard in West Columbia, along $302 in cash. The final two machines were taken from WG’s Bar on St. Andrews Road near Irmo, deputies say.
On Wednesday, a Lexington County magistrate ruled that all 8 of the cabinet- and table-top-style machines were illegal. Under state law, county magistrates determine the legality of each machine seized by police under the state’s anti-video poker law.
