Lexington County, SC — The tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School should never happen again. Many high schools and middle schools have school resource officers, but apparently few elementary schools do. I suggest that retired police officers be allowed to volunteer to protect our elementary schools.
Most of us have worked in law enforcement for 25-30 years, and some of us have state constable commissions. We could protect our students and faculty for little or no cost. I would be willing to volunteer.
