The National Weather Service is expecting severe weather in the area through Wednesday afternoon.

A cold front and upper level trough is sweeping across the region, and showers and thunderstorms are expected along the storm front. With the presence of strong wind, “there will be the possibility of tornadoes and damaging wind gusts,” the weather service posted on its Facebook page.

The severe weather is expected to move from the Central Savannah River Area to the central Midlands by midday and to the eastern Midlands in the early afternoon, according to the weather service’s Facebook page.
