COLUMBIA, SC — A power outage northeast of Columbia appears to have effected SCE&G customers in a widespread area that included about half of the Village at Sandhill shopping center and the center’s movie theaters.
Reports of power failures surfaced around 6:30 Wednesday night after a day of high winds. Power was mostly restored by about 7:30 p.m.
At 6:30, SCE&G’s website showed outages effecting 881 customers in neighborhoods surrounding Clemson Road. While most outages are restored within three hours, some customers’ power can take longer to restore, the website said.
There was no immediate word from the utility Wednesday night on what could have caused the outages.
