Winter Fest, the program at the South Carolina State Museum that provides family entertainment, runs through Tuesday. Some Winter Fest events are free, while there is a cost for others. The museum is at 301 Gervais St. Entry to Winter Fest is free with museum admission, $5-$7; www.southcarolinastatemuseum.org


Holiday Lights on the River, Saluda Shoals Park’s annual show of more than 1 million lights, runs through Monday. There’s more than 400 themed and animated displays on the park’s two-mile loop. The lights are on from 6-10 p.m. On Friday and Saturday, it goes into overdrive with Winter Wonder Rides. That’s a 125-foot downhill tube ride through a series of lighted arches. $2 per slide. Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s 25th annual Lights Before Christmas will be on display from 6-9 p.m. through Sunday. Each night, almost 1 million lights will be displayed. Santa’s gone, but there will be snow! Avoid long lines and get your tickets in advance, which includes a $2 discount. The zoo is at 500 Wildlife Parkway. $6-$8, and all zoo members can visit the show once for free; www.riverbanks.org


The Lights of Cayce will be on and through Monday at Cayce City Hall, 1800 12th Street, Cayce. Free; (803) 796-9020

After playing Manhattan College in the Brooklyn Holiday Hoops Invitational Dec. 22, USC men’s basketball team returns home to play Presbyterian College at 1 p.m. at the Colonial Life Arena, 801 Lincoln St. $15-$18; www.gamecocksonline.com


Columbia Marionette Theatre is staging “Hansel & Gretel,” a puppet show that will produce wonder in children while reintroducing adults to a children’s classic. Showtimes: 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The theater is at 401 Laurel St. $5; www.cmtpuppet.org or (803) 252-7366

Sunday, Dec. 30

The Version City Tour stops at New Brookland Tavern at 7 p.m. The tour is being headlined by King Django, a reggae and ska performer who was formerly the frontman of Stubborn All-Stars. Monday, Dec. 31

It’s New Year’s Eve all day, so why not celebrate 2013 early. Thursday, Jan. 3

USC women’s basketball team will face Tennessee in a matchup of two of the SEC’s top programs at 9 p.m. at the Colonial Life Arena. Tennessee has long dominated the league, and USC, under head coach Dawn Staley, would like to volunteer to take its turn as the SEC’s best.
