Richland election debacle: This is government at its worst

Published: December 31, 2012

— Following the Lillian McBride story has made me think I am living in a parallel universe.

What has happened to accountability? Have government jobs become birthrights or the personal property of the employee? Does the fact that government is broken at every level, local, state and federal, bother anybody other than me?

Is there a bigger waste of money than giving it to a government that fails and then refuses to accept the fact that it has failed?

One article said that Ms. McBride is negotiating, with the help of her lawyer, about how she will leave her post and suggested that she might get a lot of money for leaving. Then in another article she said she is just not going to leave, and is rejecting demands from other government leaders to do so. Talk about overplaying a pair of deuces.

Ms. McBride failed. It’s time to go, not trade for something else in government, but to just go. And maybe others should, also. The management of the election process looks like a bunglers’ paradise.

Just who is in charge? Have the inmates taken over the asylum?
