COLUMBIA, SC — Two people were killed on the state’s roadways from Friday through Sunday, the S.C. Department of Public Safety announced Monday.
The count was taken from 6 p.m. Friday through midnight Sunday.
As of Sunday, 830 people have died on S.C. highways, compared to 827 highway deaths in this same time period in 2011.
Of the 555 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2012, 322 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight Sunday, 115 pedestrians, 109 motorcyclists and 13 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways.
