— A 62-year-old woman died in a fire Thursday morning in the Eau Claire neighborhood, according to the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

Barbara Y. Floyd of 2312 Chappelle Street was pronounced dead about 8:06 a.m. after arriving at an emergency room Thursday morning, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said.

She was transported to the hospital after Columbia-Richland Fire Department crews pulled her out of her burning home about 7:15 a.m., according to department spokesman Brick Lewis.

Floyd died from complications from the fire, Watts said.

Two dogs were rescued from the house, Lewis said. The house sustained about $50,000 in damages.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
