Columbia, SC — State Rep. Bakari Sellers, D-Bamberg, generally a very admirable, astute fellow, advises that Rep. Phillip Lowe’s suggestion to allow school teachers to be armed while at work is idiotic.

Rep. Sellers further states that he has a permit to carry a concealed weapon — for personal protection and possibly the protection of others, I presume.

Rep. Sellers is therefore suggesting that it is fine for him to be able to protect himself, family and friends but not for teachers to do so.

This seems very strange to me — or at least selfish.
