I wonder if letter writer William Lucas has ever heard of the word “crossfire,” because the results of his “solution” to school violence would most likely cause teachers to be child killers, too, if they have to confront a school invader in a crowded area (“It’s time to train, arm teachers,” Dec. 24).

Imagine lines of kids in the hallway with no place to hide. None of us wants that, and I refuse to carry a weapon while working at my school.

Schools are sanctuaries for our children. Does Mr. Lucas carry a gun to church?
