The Riverbanks Zoo reintroduces a Malayan Tapir into its zoo family this week. Sixteen-year-old, Daniella, comes to Riverbanks from the Bronx Zoo. She has been kept in quarantine for the past two months but has made her debut this week. Although believed to be in the pig family, Tapirs are more closely related to horses and rhinos. Tapirs are herbivores, many can weigh over 700 pounds and on average live 25 to 30 years. KIM KIM FOSTER-TOBIN — kkfoster@thestate.com Buy Photo
