Lexington man charged in multiple burglaries

— According to Lexington County authorities between December 2012 and January 8, this year, Michael Lamar Brooke, 39, was a one-man crime wave.

The Lexington County man has been charged with stealing lawnmowers, trailers, a go-cart ,storage units, a gazeebo, tents, power tools and other items from several Lexington County churches, businesses and White Knoll Elementary School.

Victims of the burglaries included:

The Lexington Church of God, South Lake Drive, Lexington

White Knoll Elementary School, White Knoll Way, West Columbia

White Knoll Baptist Church, Kitti Wake Drive, West Columbia

Rhythmics Performaing Arts, Two Notch Road, Lexington

A-Z Lawnmower Parts, Augusta Road, Lexington

Engineer Systems, Inc., Business Park Drive, Lexington

Gregory Landscaping, Lexington

Brooks was arrested early Thursday morning at his home on Barco Court near Lexington, Sheriff James Metts said in a news release. He is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on more than $134,000 bond.
