CLEMSON — Former Clemson offensive coordinator Billy Napier will be back on the sidelines in the ACC this fall. Florida State announced Tuesday he will become the program’s new tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator.

It appears to be a good fit for Napier, who returns to the Southeast, a region he knows well as a Georgia native and former Furman quarterback. Napier had been the quarterbacks coach at Colorado State.

Napier was promoted by Dabo Swinney to be Clemson’s offensive coordinator in 2009.

At 29, he was the youngest coodinator in the ACC. Napier was fired after the 2010 season.

Arkansas coaching changes

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema has announced the resignation of receivers coach George McDonald.

Arkansas also announced the hiring of former quarterback Barry Lunney Jr. as the school’s tight ends coach.

Robinson to play receiver

Former Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson will play wide receiver in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.

Virginia Tech’s Thomas coming back

Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas announced he is returning for his senior season.
