19-year-old killed in Eastover crash

Published: January 16, 2013

— A 19-year-old Eastover man died after being ejected from his car in a crash Wednesday morning.

Robert C. Lloyd was killed when his 1989 Jeep Cherokee ran off the road and hit a tree at Reynolds and Hickory Hill roads about 10:45 a.m., Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said. No one else was injured in the single-car crash.

Lloyd’s car drifted off the road, state Highway Patrol troopers said, and overcorrected twice before running off the road and hitting the tree.

Lloyd, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle, which caught on fire.

An autopsy on Lloyd’s body is planned for Thursday, Watts said.
