Monday: Elections board’s decision wrong

Published: January 21, 2013

— Would the Richland County Board of Elections and Voter Registration have made the same decision regarding the former elections director if it was a personal business decision? I think not.

The blatant incompetent management of the Nov. 6 elections in Richland County is the fault of the director; the buck stops there. If this person was working for a private enterprise, she would be removed. I read in The State that a new position had been created for the purpose of retaining her, at a salary of $74,600. This can be construed only as being rewarded for incompetence.

I think those who let this happen should have turned a deaf ear to political pressure and acted in a business-like manner. Failure to do so reflects incompetence on their part also.
