MYRTLE BEACH, SC — Cynthia Storer, a Coastal Carolina University lecturer who formerly worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, was invited to visit the Sundance Film Festival through Wednesday to attend the premiere of a film in which she appears, according to a news release from CCU.

Storer, who worked as a CIA analyst for 20 years, is interviewed in the HBO documentary “Manhunt,” based on Peter Bergen’s book about the search for Osama Bin Laden and the war on terror. “Manhunt” will air on the HBO network later this year after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival Sunday.

Storer was part of a group of CIA women, called “the Sisterhood” in the book and the film, who dedicated their lives to the fight against al-Qaida and the possible consequences of terrorism in this country. Storer developed a model called the “Ziggurat of Zealotry” that arrays Islamists in a hierarchical fashion in terms of their radicalization. In 2006, the New York Times named the Ziggurat one of the best 20 new ideas of the year.

Storer is a lecturer for CCU’s new intelligence and national security degree program in the Department of Politics and Geography.
