COLUMBIA, SC — Six apartments were damaged after fire broke out at a complex near Fort Jackson Tuesday afternoon.
No one was injured in the blaze, which broke out at the Arborwood apartment complex on Percival Road about 1:30 p.m., Columbia-Richland Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said.
Two stations responded, and the fire was brought under control in about an hour.
Five of the six apartments were occupied, Lewis said, and the American Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to all of the residents displaced by the fire.
This is the second fire in the last six months at the complex, Lewis said. The cause of Tuesday’s fire is under investigation by the Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office.
