Columbia, SC — A recent Gallup Poll found that 53 percent of Democratic voters and 23 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of socialism.
How did it happen? Decades of skillful cultivation of the liberal belief system in education, the media and entertainment.
Get financial support from union leaders and left-wing PACs and by gaining control of a major political party. Brand our Constitution and religion as irrelevant and outdated. Label the playing field as unfair. Blast opponents as racist, sexist or protectors of the rich. Use these measures to legislate and regulate. Support the appointment of like-minded judges, and expand the use of presidential decrees.
Results: a society that looks to government for all solutions; an economy wherein the private sector shrinks while government power, spending and debt increase. And fewer and fewer people believe in the free-market, self-reliant, capitalist system our founders envisioned.
Knowingly or not, the so-called “progressives” and defenders of the middle class have endorsed an approach that is socialist. This new majority accepts a centralized controlling government as the best course.
A government over the people by a select group of people.
