Baseball pre-season rankings

Lexington and Blythewood occupy the top two spots in the Class 4A pre-season baseball rankings released by the South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association. Lexington is ranked No. 1, followed by the Bengals.

Three Midlands teams are in the Class 3A top 10 – A.C. Flora at No. 3, Gilbert at No. 5 and Chapin at No. 7. Flora is the defending state champion, while Gilbert is in its first season in 3A after winning the 2A title last year.

1. Lexington; 2. Blythewood; 3. Sumter; 4. Mauldin; 5. Conway; 6. Wando; 7. Boiling Springs; 8. South Aiken; 9. Northwestern; 10. Laurens.

CLASS 3A

1. Wren; 2. Greenville; 3. A.C. Flora; 4. Belton-Honea Path; 5. Gilbert; 6. St. James; 7. Chapin; 8. James Island; 9. Blue Ridge; 10. Walhalla.

CLASS 2A

1. Bishop England; 2. Dillon; 3. Andrew Jackson; 4. Mid-Carolina; 5. Chesterfield; 6. Marion; 7. Ninety Six; 8. Chesnee; 9. Pendleton; 10. Andrews.

CLASS 1A

1. St. Joespeh’s; 2. Lamar; 3. LakeView; 4. Johnsonville; 5. Lewisville; 6. Christ Church; 7. Latta; 8. Dixie; 9. McBee; 10. Fox Creek.
