Weather conditions could make the Friday morning commute difficult in the Columbia area.
The National Weather Service expects moist air to move into the area Friday, slipping over the cold mass now squatting over the state. The timing of the arrival is the key, and conditions remained too complicated for a firm forecast Wednesday afternoon.
If the moisture moves in pre-dawn or in early morning, it could arrive as freezing rain or sleet. By a few hours after sunrise, it would be a cold rain.
